New Orleans Saints Tie Ryan Ramczyk to $96m Five-Year Extension

Offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk has become the highest-paid tackle in the NFL following his signing of a new deal with the New Orleans Saints. It’s a deal that helps coach Mickey Loomis retain the services of one of the key members of his roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Ramczyk had been in talks over his contract for much of the close season and no doubt a number of prospective suitors would have been lining up to pick up the 27-year-old had he not signed the massive $96m five-year extension with the Saints.

Moves to keep such a crucial member of the Saints set-up will greatly aid their push for a successful season having made it to the divisional playoffs last term. Crucial information such as this can affect key betting markets and will directly impact on the odds offered by the major sportsbooks.

In this instance the retention of Ramczyk could well be just what’s needed to take the Saints a couple of steps further than they managed last season.

Ramczyk was drafted to the Saints in 2017 and has become, year on year, an increasingly important member of the roster. Last season the Saints finished the regular season with a solid 12-4 record and for the fourth year in a row they topped the NFC South, before losing to eventual Super Bowl winners Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s now over a decade since the Saints last tasted Super Bowl success themselves and this deal could help bring them a step closer to the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay, who lead the chase in the Super Bowl futures market.

On the subject of the deal Ramczyk has made it clear he’s very happy with the way negotiations panned out and of course with the massive deal he secured, the University of Wisconsin alumni stating;

“I'm extremely happy with how everything played out.”

He followed up to sing the praises of his agent;

“That's what we pay these guys to do. So, they've been through it so many times. This is my first time, obviously, going through an extension, so they know what they're doing…I really tried to just lean on him to take care of everything, really,”

Things have been just rosy in the Ramczyk household of late, not only did he secure this incredible payday but he and his wife, Rochelle, welcomed a newborn in the offseason.

The Saints have put in a great deal of their budget into their offensive line, with big contracts and key draft picks, in an effort to better equip New Orleans for the coming season.

The attention given to this side of the roster has been noted by Ramczyk, who has stated;

“The offensive line is a very important position. And like you said, they [New Orleans] dedicated a lot of resources to the offensive line. So it means a lot, and now we as a group, I take it very seriously. And we know we go out and put everything we got into this game. And I think we have a solid, really solid group of guys here and definitely looking forward to this season.”
