1964 (NFL): With the Minnesota Vikings leading the San Francisco 49ers 27-17 in the 4th quarter, Vikings defensive end Jim Marshall scoops up a fumble and runs 66 yards the wrong way leading to a safety after he throws the ball in the air with 8:12 remaining in the game. The Vikings would go on to win the game 27-22 but failed to cover as 7-point road favorites. Marshall said after the game "I finally realized what I had done when I crossed the end zone and threw the ball up in the air. I figure the best to do was throw the ball up and forget it."


1986 (MLB): In Game 6 of the World Series, the New York Mets score 3 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat the Boston Red Sox 6-5 and push the series to a winner-take-all Game 7. Red Sox first baseman Bill Bucker's error on a slow grounder by Mookie Wilson allowed Ray Knight to score the winning run. The Mets were -160 home favorites for the game and would go on to win 8-5 in Game 7.


1990 (Boxing): In his first fight since beating Mike Tyson, Buster Douglas gets knocked out by Evander Holyfield 1:10 into the 3rd round. Holyfield was a -150 favorite for the fight as he improved to 25-0 in the heavyweight unification title fight.
