1996 (Boxing): Mike Tyson regains the WBC heavyweight title by defeating Frank Bruno in a 3rd round TKO. Tyson was a large -800 favorite.



1997 (College Basketball): Chattanooga becomes the second #14 seed to advance to the Sweet 16 after defeating #6 seed Illinois 75-63 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Mocs were a 10-point underdog after being a 9-point underdog in their first round 73-70 upset of #3 seed Georgia. Forward Willie Young led the way for Chattanooga as he scored 26 points in the first round and 15 points in the second round. The Mocs would go on to lose 71-65 to #10 Providence in the Sweet 16 but covered as an 8-point underdog.


2012 (College Basketball): For the first time since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams, two #15 seeds advance to the round of 32 after Lehigh defeats #2 seed Duke 75-70 and Norfolk State beats #2 Missouri 86-84. Leigh was a 12-point underdog while Norfolk State was a 21½-point underdog. Both teams would go on to lose by double digits in the next round.


2018 (College Basketball): As a 20½ point underdog, UMBC becomes the first #16 seed to defeat a #1 seed in the NCAA men's basketball tournament when they beat Virginia 74-54. Retrievers senior guard Jairus Lyles led all scorers with 28 points after connecting on 9-of-11 shots from the floor. UMBC would lose 50-43 in the next round to #9 seed Kansas State.
