1947 (MLB): 28 year-old Jackie Robinson makes his major league debut and becomes the first African American to play in Major League Baseball. He would go hitless but score the winning run for the Brooklyn Dodgers as they defeated the Boston Braves, 5-3. The Dodgers would go on to win the National League Pennant and were +300 before the start of the season to reach the World Series. Robinson won the NL Rookie of the Year as the Dodgers lost in 7 games to the Yankees in the World Series.


1985 (Boxing): As a slight -140 favorite, "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler wins by a 3rd round TKO over Tommy "Hitman" Hearns in a fight that would later be known as "The War" - some consdier it the greatest boxing match of all time. The fight was three years in the making and crowned Hagler the undisputed middleweight champion of the world.


1990 (MLB): ESPN debuts Sunday Night Baseball with the Montreal Expos hosting the New York Mets. The Expos won 3-1 as even money underdogs. Jon Miller and Joe Morgan were in the booth and would call the Sunday Night game for the next 21 seasons.


2019 (NBA): Down 31 points with 7:30 reminaing in the 3rd quarter, the Los Angeles Clippers set an NBA playoff record by coming back to win 135-131 in Game 2 of their first round playoff series against the Golden State Warriros. The Clippers were as high as 100-1 during live betting and were 13½-point underdogs entering the game. Lou Williams scored 36 for L.A.
