1992 (NBA): Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird plays the final game of his NBA career as the Cleveland Cavaliers eliminiate the Celtics 122-104 in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series. The Cavaliers covered as 4½-point favorites and entered Game 1 as a -170 favorite to win the series. Bird scored 12 points as a bad back shortened his career forcing him to retire at the age of 35.


1998 (MLB): New York Yankees lefty David Wells pitches the 13th perfect game in MLB history in a 4-0 victory against the Minnesota Twins. The Yankees were -240 home favorites as Wells struck out 11 on 120 pitches. He would finish the regular season 18-4 and 4-0 in the postseason as the Yankees swept the San Diego Padres in the World Series.


2008 (Horse Racing): As a 1-5 favorite, Big Brown wins the 133rd Preakness Stakes in 1:54.80 by 5¼ lengths. Jockey Kent Desormeaux wins his 2nd Preakness Stakes, 10 years after winning on Real Quiet.
