1986 (Golf): 31 year-old Australian Greg Norman shoots a 1-under 69 to finish even par for the tournament and wins his first major championship at the Open Championship, winning by 5 strokes over Gordon J. Brand. Norman entered the tournament at 20-1 to win the title.


2003 (Golf): Coming in as a 300-1 longshot to win the tournament, Ben Curtis wins the Open Championship by one-stroke over Thomas Bjørn and Vijay Singh. Curtis was making his first major championship appearance and was number 396 in the world rankings.


2009 (MLB): The Pittsburgh Pirates end a 17-game losing streak to the Milwaukee Brewers after an 8-5 victory. The Pirates were a -103 home underdog as the steak was the longest skid against a single opponent since 1970 when the Kansas City Royals lost 23 games in a row to the Baltimore Orioles to set the MLB record.
