1992 (Golf): At Bellerive CC in Town and Country, Missouri - Zimbabwean Nick Price wins the 1st of his 3 majors at the PGA Championship after shooting a 1-under 70 to beat John Cook, Nick Faldo, Jim Gallagher Jr and Gene Sauers by 3 strokes. Price entered the tournament at 20-1 to win the title.

1996 (MLB): The first game in MLB history is played outside of the United States or Canada when the San Diego Padres defeat the New York Mets 15-10 at Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. The Padres were -140 favorites for the game that was moved due a scheduling conflict with the Republican National Convention being held in San Diego. Mexican hero Fernando Valenzuela picked up the win after giving up 3 runs over 6 innings.

2009 (Golf): 125-1 longshot Y.E. Yang of South Korea outduels playing partner Tiger Woods to win the PGA Championship by 3 strokes. Woods, who entered the tournament as the favorite at +175 to win the title, took a 2-shot lead heading into the final round but shot a 3-over 75. It marked the 1st time that Woods had failed to win a major he had led after 54 holes.
