1982 (Golf): At Southern Hills CC in Tulsa, Oklahoma - 13 years after winning his first PGA Championship, Raymond Floyd wins his 2nd PGA Championship by 3 strokes over fellow American Lanny Wadkins. Floyd entered the tournament at +1500 to win the title as he would go on to win one more major title at the 1986 U.S. Open to give him 4 for his career. Tom Watson, who had won the previous 2 majors at the U.S. Open and Open Championship, entered the tournament as the favorite at +300 but finished 8 strokes back of Floyd and tied for 9th place.


1988 (MLB): The first scheduled night game ever at Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs host the Philadelphia Phillies. With former Cy Young award winner Rick Sutcliffe on the mound, the Cubs were -160 favorites but the game does not become official due to being rained out in the 3rd inning. The first official night game was one night later when the Cubs were even money and defeated the New York Mets 6-4.


1992 (Basketball): The U.S. Men's Basektball team wins the gold medal after defeating Croatia 117-85 at the Barcelona Olympics. The 'Dream Team' failed to cover as 41-point favorites as they entered the Olympics as a heavy -2000 favorite to win Gold. Michael Jordan led the way for the U.S. with 22 points as 7 different players scored in double figures.
