1983 (NBA): The Detroit Pistons defeat the Denver Nuggets 186-184 in a triple-overtime game that set NBA records for most total points and most points scored by one team. The Pistons were a 4-point road underdog and the total of the game was unknown (we're guessing it went over though). Four players scored 40+ points as Nuggets forward Kiki Vandeweghe led all scorers with 51 points and Isiah Thomas led the way for the Pistons with 47 points.
2009 (NFL): The Indianapolis Colts defeat the Denver Broncos 28-16 and set an NFL record with their 22nd straight win. With running back Dallas Clark's 1-yard touchdown with 2:25 remaining in the game, the Colts covered as a 6½-point home favorite and the game went over the total of 43½-points. Another record was broken in the game when Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall caught 21 passses - he ended the day with 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Colts would extend their winning to 23 games before losing to the New York Jets two weeks later.
2013 (College Football): Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota wins the Heisman Trophy Award after receiving 788 of the 890 first place votes. Mariota was the preseason favortie to win the award at +425. Since 2009 (as far back as our site has preseason odds for the Heisman Trophy) he remains as the only preseason favorite to go on and win the award.
