1990 (MLB): 26 year-old Randy Johnson becomes the first Seattle Mariner in franchise history to pitch a no-hitter in a 2-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers. The Mariners were -130 home favorites as Johnson stuck out 8 and walked 6 on 138 pitches.
2000 (NBA): Reggie Miller scores 34 points on 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range as the Indiana Pacers advance to their first NBA Finals appearance after defeating the New York Knicks 93-80 in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Pacers were 2½-point road underdogs and entered Game 1 as -260 favorites to win the series. It was the 6th playoff series matchup between the two teams over an 8 year span - each team won three times. Indiana would go on to lose to the LA Lakers in 6 games in The Finals.
2010 (MLB): With 2 outs in the 9th inning, Tigers starter Armando Galarraga is robbed of a perfect game after umpire Jim Joyce blows a call at first base in which the pitcher was covering the bag. Detroit was a -155 home favorite as they would go on to beat the Cleveland Indians 3-0. "I just cost the kid a perfect game," said Joyce after the game. "I thought he beat the throw. I was convinced he beat the throw until I saw the replay." During the 2010 season instant replay was only used on homers and was not expanded until the 2014 season.
