1981 (College Basketball): In the first (and still only) 7 overtime game, Cincinnati defeats Bradley 75-73. The Bearcats were a 6½-point road underdog. The game was tied 61-61 at the end of regulation and both teams held onto the ball for long periods of time during the overtime periods (the shot clock was not introduced until the 1985-86 season). Cincinnati's Doug Scholemer hit a jump shot with 1 second remaining in the 7th overtime to win the game.

1984 (College Football): BYU beats Michigan 24-17 in the Holiday Bowl to become only the 2nd team over the previous 80 years to finish a season 13-0. The Cougars covered as 6½-point favorites as they finished the season #1 in both the AP and Coaches polls. BYU rallied from a 17-10 4th quarter deficit to the 6-5 Wolverines as quarterback Robbie Bosco found Kelly Smith for a 13-yard touchdown with 1:23 remaining. Bosco finished the day with 343 yards and 2 touchdowns.

1997 (NFL): Barry Sanders becomes the 3rd running back to rush for 2,000 yards in a season as he tallies 184 yards and scores the winning touchdown in the Detroit Lions 13-10 victory over the New York Jets. The Lions failed to cover as 5½-point home favorites and the game stayed under the total of 43 points as the Lions secured the final playoff spot in the NFC. Sanders finished the season with 2,053 rushing yards and was named co-MVP alongside Brett Favre. Sanders rushed for over 100 yards in each of the final 14 games of the season - an NFL record.
