1937 (Boxing): As a -300 favorite, Joe Louis beats James J Braddock by KO in the 8th round to become the new heavyweight champion of the world. Louis, who many consider to be the first African-American to reach the status of nationwide hero within the U.S., would retain the championship for over 12 years and is considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.
1994 (NBA): The Houston Rockets win their first NBA Championship after beating the New York Knicks 90-84 in Game 7 of The Finals. The Rockets covered as 4-point home favorites and entered Game 1 as -220 favorites to win the series. Hakeem Olajuwon averaged 26.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game for the series won the Finals MVP and became the first player to ever win the Defensive Player of the Year and both the regular season and Finals MVP awards in the same season. Houston entered the season at +1200 to win the title.

2009 (Golf): As a 150-1 longshot, Lucas Glover wins the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black by 2 strokes over Phil Mickelson, Ricky Barnes, and David Duval. The finish of the tournament was pushed to Monday due to rain delays throughout the tournament.
