1941 (Boxing): As a -1000 favorite, Joe Louis defends the heavyweight title and improves to 49-1 by defeating Buddy Baer. The fight ended in disqualification as Baer's manager refused to leave the ring contending that the last knockdown in the previous round occurred after the bell.


1982 (NBA): After blowing a 3-1 series lead, the Philadelphia 76ers win on the road 128-106 against the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Sixers were 4-point underdogs as Andrew Toney led all scorers with 34 points on 14-of-23 shooting. Philadelphia would go on to lose in 6 games to the LA Lakers in The Finals for the second time in three years.


1999 (NBA): As 6-point road underdogs, the San Antonio Spurs defeat the LA Lakers 118-107 to complete a sweep in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Entering Game 1 the Spurs were -220 favorites to win the series as they would go on to win the NBA Championship by defeating the New York Knicks in 5 games.
