1965 (NBA): The Boston Celtics wrap up their 7th consecutive NBA Championship as they defeat the LA Lakers, 129-96, in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Celtics easily cover the 9½-point spread as they entered the series as -200 favorites.

1984 (MLB): As +120 underdogs, the New York Mets defeat the Montreal Expos, 2-1, as rookie phenom Dwight Gooden fans 10 Expos over 7 innings. He becomes the first teenager to strike out double digits since Bert Blyleven in 1970 for the Twins. The 19 year-old would go on to lead MLB in strikeouts with 276, earn NL Rookie of the Year honors and finish 2nd behind Rick Sutcliffe for the NL Cy Young award.
