1948 (Boxing): 34 year-old Joe Louis defends the heavyweight total for the 26th and final time after knocking out Jersey Joe Walcott in the 11th round at Yankee Stadium. Louis was a -250 favorite.


1999 (NBA): The San Antonio Spurs win their first NBA Championship after defeating the #8 seeded New York Knicks 78-77 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Spurs failed to cover as 5-point road underdogs and the game went under the total of 172. San Antonio entered Game 1 as heavy -900 favorites to win the series as Tim Duncan won Finals MVP award after averaging 27.4 points and 14.0 rebounds per game during the series.


2000 (MLB): Darin Erstad becomes only the third major leaguer to hit both a leadoff and walk-off home run in the same game as the Anaheim Angels defeat the Minnesota Twins 7-6 in 11 innings. The Angels were -160 home favorites for the game.
