1992 (MLB): 45 year-old Nolan Ryan outduels 23 year-old Mike Mussina in the Texas Rangers 6-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The Rangers were +120 road underdogs as Ryan went 7 innings and struck out 5 batters including his 100th of the season to become the first major leaguer to accomplish the feat in 23 straight seasons. It was the 319th victory for Ryan in his career, moving him past Phil Niekro for 12th on the all-time list.

2010 (MLB): Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Matt Garza pitches the first no-hitter in franchise history in a 5-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers. The Rays were a -180 home favorite as Garza walked one batter but got a double play to face the minimum 27 batters.

2009 (Cycling): Spain's Alberto Contador wins his 2nd Tour de France by 4 minutes and 11 seconds over Andy Schleck of Luxembourg. Contador entered the race as the even money favorite to win the race as Lance Armstong, who came out of retirement after not having competed in the race since 2005, was +250 and finished 3rd. Armstrong's achievement was later voided by the UCI in October 2012 following doping allegations and 4th place finisher Bradley Wiggins was promoted to 3rd place.
