1996 (MLB): Boston Red Sox ace Roger Clemens ties his own record for strikeouts in a game when he fans 20 batters in a 4-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers. The Red Sox were -170 road favorites as the game would turn out to be Clemens' final win for the franchise before leaving for the Toronto Blue Jays via free agency.


1999 (College Football): Eventual Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne rushes for 233 yards and a touchdown but Cincinnati upsets #9 Wisconsin 17-12. The Bearcats were 26-point home underdogs as they would go winless in Conference USA games and finish the season 3-8.


1999 (Boxing): Oscar De La Hoya suffers his first loss as a professional after Puerto Rican Felix Trinidad wins by majority decision. Trinidad was a +110 underdog for the welterweight unification bout.


2011 (NFL): Cam Newton sets an NFL rookie record by throwing for 432 yards in the Carolina Panthers 30-23 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers. The Panthers covered as 11-point home underdogs thanks to a 4-yard touchdown run by Newton with 37 seconds left in the game. The #1 overall draft pick would go on to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
