1952 (Boxing): 29-year old Rocky Marciano wins the world heavyweight championship after knocking out champion Jersey Joe Walcott in the 13th round. Despite being the challenger, Marciano was a -150 favorite for the fight held at Municipal Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.


1983 (MLB): Pitching against his former team, Steve Carlton picks up his 300th career victory as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the St Louis Cardinals 6-2. The Phillies were -140 road favorites as Carlton went struck out 12 batters and gave up two runs over 8 innings. Carlton would go on to finish his career with a record of 329-244 and a 3.22 ERA.


2018 (Golf): Tiger Woods picks up his first PGA Tour victory in over 5 years with a 2-stroke win over Billy Horschel at the Tour Championship. Entering the tournament, Woods was +1200 to win the title as he notched his 80th career Tour victory.
