Heat Might Trade for DeMar DeRozan or LaMarcus Aldridge

The Heat are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 12-4 record as of November 27 and according to reports they want to make improvements to their roster.

Miami has thrived with All-Star forward Jimmy Butler leading and according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, they want to add DeMar DeRozan or LaMarcus Aldridge of the Spurs.

“When ESPN's Kendrick Perkins suggested this week that the struggling San Antonio Spurs should consider trading LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan, the Heat immediately came to mind, not only because Pat Riley said this week that he's open to making a move if it's the right one, but also because Riley has long admired both players and, most importantly, because neither has a contract that extends beyond the key summer of 2021.”

As I write this, the Spurs are just 6-12 and they've lost nine of their last 10 games. The season is still young but the Western Conference is loaded and making the playoffs after such a poor start won't be easy for the Spurs. They do have a legendary head coach in Gregg Popovich, so them turning things around is not out of the question but even if they do, let's be honest, they are not NBA Championship contenders, so rebuilding might be a smart move.

DeMar DeRozan (plus-1.1 Offensive Box Plus/Minus) and LaMarcus Aldridge (plus-1.1 Offensive Box Plus/Minus) have done their part but the Spurs just haven't been able to click together this season. The Heat are not slowing down any time soon and they could go after DeRozan and Aldridge, even if it costs them rookies Kendrick Nunn (plus-0.3 Offensive Box Plus/Minus) or Tyler Herro (minus-1.4 Offensive Box Plus/Minus), who are playing at a high level.

DeRozan or Aldridge without giving up Nunn or Herro then they would really improve their team.
