1972 (NFL): The Miami Dolphins become the 1st team in NFL history to go undefeated in the regular season after a 16-0 shutout of the Baltimore Colts. The Dolphins covered as a 10½-point home favorite as they would go on to win the Super Bowl and finish the season 17-0.
1973 (NFL): In the final game of the regular season, O.J. Simpson rushes 34 times for 200 yards and 1 touchdown in the Buffalo Bills 34-14 victory over the New York Jets to become the first running back in NFL history to eclipse the 2,000 yard mark in a season. The Bills were 3½-point road underdogs as Simpson finished the season with 2,003 yards in only 14 games and was named the NFL MVP.
1990 (NFL): Warren Moon passes for 527 yards - good for 2nd on the all-time single game list behind Norm Van Brocklin's 554 yards in 1951 - in the Houston Oilers 27-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Oilers were a 3½-point home underdog and the game went under the total of 42 points. Moon threw for 3 touchdowns including an 87-yarder to wide receiver Haywood Jeffires who finished the day with 9 catches and 245 yards.
