1962 (Golf): Jack Nicklaus wins his 1st major championship at the US Open when he defeats Arnold Palmer by 3 strokes in an 18-hole playoff. Nicklaus was +900 to win the tournament held at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Palmer was the betting favorite at +500.

2010 (NBA): Kobe Bryant wins his 5th NBA Championship as the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Boston Celtics 83-79 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. The Lakers failed to cover as 7-point home favorites and the game went under the total of 186. Entering Game 1 the Lakers were -190 favorites to win the series as the Lakers won their 16th title in franchise history. Bryant took home the Finals MVP award for the 2nd straight year after averaging 28.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game during The Finals.
