1988 (NBA): Dominique Wilkins and Larry Bird combine for 36 in the fourth quarter of Game 7 of the 1988 Eastern Conference Seminals as the Boston Celtics prevail 118-116 over the Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics failed to cover as 7½-point home favorites and entered Game 1 as -500 favorites to win the series. Wilkins led all scorers with 47 points and Bird finished with 34 as Boston would go on to lose to the Detroit Pistons in 6 games in the Conference Finals.


1993 (Boxing): As a heavy -3200 favorite, Riddick Bowe retains the WBA and IBF heavyweight title by knocking out Jesse Ferguson 17 seconds into 2nd round at RFK Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C.


2006 (NBA): Dirk Nowitzki pours in 37 points as the Dallas Mavericks upset the defending champion San Antonio Spurs 119-111 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Mavericks were 4-point road underdogs and entered Game 1 as +150 underdogs to win the series. Dallas would go on to to lose in 6 games to the Miami Heat in The Finals.
