1950 (NFL): The Cleveland Browns win the NFL Championship with a 30-28 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. The Browns, who were playing their first season in the NFL after previously playing 4 seasons in the AAFC, were 3½-point favorites as quarterback Otto Graham passed for 298 yards, 4 touchdowns and also ran for 99 yards. Lou Groza kicked the game-winning 16-yard field goal with 20 seconds left in the game.
1961 (AFL): In a rematch of the previous (and first) year's AFL Championship, the Houston Oilers defeat the San Diego Chargers 10-3 to win back-to-back AFL Championships. The Oilers covered as 5½-point road favorites as the 2 teams turned the ball over a combined 13 times. Running back Billy Cannon's 35-yard touchdown catch from George Blanda in the 3rd quarter proved to be the game-winner.
1977 (NFL): The Denver Broncos reach the playoffs for the first time in franchise history and defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-21 in the AFC Divisional round. The Broncos covered as 2-point home favorites as they would go on to lose in the Super Bowl to the Dallas Cowboys. Denver's "Orange Crush" defense was led by Tom Jackson, who had a fumble recovery and 2 interceptions off of Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw.
