1980 (Boxing): Marvelous Marvin Hagler wins the world middleweight title after defeating British fighter Alan Minter by TKO in the 3rd round. Hagler was a +110 underdog for the fight held in London, England.


1986 (College Football): As a 5½-point home underdog, #2 Miami (FL) defeats #1 Oklahoma 28-16. Eventual Heisman Trophy Award winner Vinny Testaverde threw for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns - 2 of which went to star wideout Michael Irvin. The Hurricanes would go on to lose to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl in another #1 vs #2 matchup.


2008 (College Football): Florida's missed extra point with 3:28 remaining in the game turned out to be the difference as Ole Miss defeated the 4th ranked Gators 31-30. The Rebels were 23-point road underdogs and the game went over the total of 50 points. It turned out to be the Gators only loss of the season as they would go on to defeat Oklahoma in the BCS Championship.


2009 (NFL): The Detroit Lions end their 19-game losing streak after defeating the Washington Redskins 19-14. The Lions were 6-point home underdogs and the game went under the total of 39½-points . Rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford passed for 241 yards and a touchdown. The 19-game skid ranks 2nd in NFL history behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26-game losing streak that spanned the 1976 and 1977 seasons.
