2001 (NBA): 38-year old Michael Jordan scores 50 or more points for the final time in his career when he drops 51 points in the Washington Wizards 107-90 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. The Wizards covered as 2-point home favorites. It was the 31st time Jordan reached 50 points which is good for 2nd on the all-time list behind Wilt Chamberlain (118 games).
2006 (College Football): At the Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona - Texas Tech erases a 38-7 third quarter deficit and defeats Minnesota 44-41 in overtime to set the record for the largest bowl game comeback ever. The Red Raiders failed to cover as 8-point favorites and the game went over the total of 63 points. Running back Shannon Woods ran for 109 yards and scored 3 touchdowns, including the game-winning 3-yard touchdown in overtime.
2007 (NFL): The New England Patriots become the first team to go 16-0 after a 38-35 victory over the New York Giants. The Patriots failed to cover as a 13½-point road favorite and the game went over the total of 46½-points. New England took the lead for good on a 65-yard touchdown from Tom Brady to Randy Moss with the 11:06 left in the game. It was Brady's 50th touchdown pass of the season as he became the first QB in NFL history to reach that mark in a season. The Giants would end the Patriots quest for 19-0 with a 17-14 victory in Super Bowl XLII.
2019 (NFL): As a 17½-point road underdog, the Miami Dolphins defeat the New England Patriots 27-24 after Mike Gesicki catches a 5-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick with 24 seconds left in the game. The loss by the Patriots moved them from the #2 seed in the AFC to the #3 seed and cost them a first-round bye. New England would lose the following week to the Tennessee Titans 20-13 in the Wild Card round.
