1973 (Boxing): In Kingston, Jamaica - Heavyweight champion Joe Frazier loses the first match of his professional career after George Foreman wins by TKO at 1:35 of the 2nd round. Foreman, who improved to 38-0, was a +350 underdog for the fight as he knocked down Frazier 3 times in each round. The two would fight again 3 years later as Foreman would win by TKO again, this time in the 5th round.

1989 (NFL): In Super Bowl XXIII at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami - John Taylor's 10-yard touchdown catch from Joe Montana with 39 seconds left in the game puts the San Francisco 49ers in the lead for good as they would go on to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 20-16. The 49ers failed to cover as 7-point favorites and the game stayed under the total of 47½-points. 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice was named Super Bowl MVP after catching 11 passes for 215 yards and 1 touchdown. San Francisco head coach Bill Walsh coached his final game as a professional as he retired during the following offseason.

2006 (NBA): Kobe Bryant scores 81 points in the Los Angeles Lakers 122-104 victory over the Toronto Raptors. The Lakers covered as a 7-point home favorite and the game went over the total of 210½-points. It's the 2nd highest game total scored by a single player in NBA history, behind only Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game (1962). Bryant was 28-for-46 from the floor, 7-for-13 from beyond the arc and 18-for-20 from the free throw line.
