There have been six men's college basketball National Championships played on April 2nd and each time the betting favorite has won and covered. Additionally, five of these teams were the favorite to win it all before the tournament began (UNLV in 1990 was listed as the second favorite).


1984: As a 4-point favorite, Georgetown defeats Houston, 84-75. This was the last tournament before the NCAA moved to 64 teams. Hakeem Olajuwon held Patrick Ewing to only 10 points but the Hoyas prevailed and Ewing was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.


1990: UNLV records the largest margin of victory in a National Championship with a 103-73 victory over Duke. The Runnin' Rebels were favored by 4½-points and the game stayed under the total of 182 points. Anderson Hunt was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after scoring 29 in the title game.


2001: Duke wins each tournament game by double digits capped by an 82-72 victory over Arizona in the National Championship. The Blue Devils were 4-point favorites and the game stayed under the total of 164 points. Shane Battier scored 18 points and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.


2007: Since 1973, Florida joins Duke as the only other team to win back-to-back National Championships after defeating Ohio State 84-75. The Gators were a 4-point favorite and the game went over the total of 140½-points.


2012: Kentucky wins their 8th National Championship after beating Kansas, 67-59. The Wildcats were a 6-point favorite and the game stayed under the total of 138½-points. Anthony Davis was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.


2018: Villanova wins their second National Championship in three years after defeating Michigan, 79-62. The Wildcats were favored by 6½ points and the game stayed under the total of 144½-points. Forward Donte DiVincenzo scored 31 points and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
