1982 (MLB): As -150 favorites, the Atlanta Braves lose for the first time in a 2-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The 13-0 start is the longest winning streak to open up a season in MLB history. Atlanta would go on to finish 89-73 and win the NL West by one game over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

1994 (Boxing): Despite being knocked down in the 2nd round, Michael Moorer earns a majority decision over Evander Holyfield in 12 rounds to win the WBA and IBF heavyweight titles. Moorer was a +180 underdog for the fight as he would lose his championship belts less than 7 months later when he was knocked out by George Foreman.

Rahman improved to 35-2 and won the WBC, IBF, and IBO heavyweight titles. The two would fight again less than 7 months later as Lewis would regain the heavyweight title by knocking out Rahman in the 4th round.
