1987 (NBA): The Seattle SuperSonics become the first #7 seed to defeat a #2 seed in the NBA playoffs after blowing out the Dallas Mavericks 124-98 in Game 4 of the first round. The SuperSonics were 4-point home underdogs as Tom Chambers led the way with 31 points.


1992 (NHL): The Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks win their respective first round Game 7's and become the 9th and 10th teams in NHL history to comeback from down 3-1 in a best-of 7 playoff series. As -500 series favorites, the Red Wings won their Game 7 5-2 over the Minnesota North Stars. The Canucks were -300 series favorites and beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-0 in the deciding game.


2009 (NBA): In what some consider to be the best first round NBA playoff series ever, the Chicago Bulls even the best-of-7 series against the Boston Celtics by winning Game 6 in triple overtime 128-127. The Bulls failed to cover the spread as 3-point home favorites as Boston's Ray Allen had a playoff career-high 51 points after hitting nine 3-pointers. The defending champion Celtics were -545 favorites to win the series as they would take care of business in Game 7 by winning 109-99. Four of the seven games in the series went to overtime as the Celtics would lose in the next round in 7 games to the Orlando Magic.
