1973 (NFL): In week 1 of the NFL regular season, O.J. Simpson rushes for a then-record 250 yards in the Buffalo Bills 31-13 victory over the New England Patriots. The game was a pick 'em as Simpson had touchdown runs of 80 and 22 yards. He would go on to become the first player to rush for 2,000 yards in a season as he finished with 2,003 yards in only 14 games.


1988 (MLB): Tom Browning pitches the 10th perfect game in MLB history in the Cincinnati Reds 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Reds were -120 home favorites as Browning struck out 7 batters on 101 pitches in the game that took just one hour and 51 minutes.


1989 (College Football): Defending National Champion and #1 ranked Notre Dame defeats #2 ranked Michigan 24-19 at the Big House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Fighting Irish were 1-point underdogs and the game went over the total of 38 points. Raghib "Rocket" Ismail had kickoff returns for touchdowns of 88 and 92 yards.
