1973 (Tennis): At Houston's Astrodome - Billy Jean King defeats Bobby Riggs 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 to win the Battle of the Sexes and the $100,000 winner-takes-all prize money. King was a +140 underdog as Riggs faced allegations of throwing the match in exchange for cancelling gambling debts to the mob. It was estimated that 50 million people in the U.S. watched the match on television.


1997 (College Football): Division I-AA member North Texas upsets Texas Tech 30-27. The Mean Green were 32 point road underdogs as they took the lead for good with just over a minute remaining in the game when quarterback Jason Mills hit Bo Harrison for a 15-yard touchdown pass.


2009 (NFL): In the first regular season game at Cowboys Stadium, Lawrence Tynes kicks a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the New York Giants a 33-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants were 3-point underdogs and the game went over the total of 45½-points.
