1974 (NFL): In the first regular-season overtime game in NFL history, the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers play to a 35-35 tie. The Steelers failed to cover as 7½-point road favorites. From 1920 to 1973, there were no overtime rules during the regular season. The game was the highest scoring tie until 2014 when the Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals played to a 37-37 tie.


1993 (MLB): Legendary pitcher Nolan Ryan pitches the final game of his career but is unable to finish the first inning upon injuring his right elbow as the Texas Rangers lost 7-4 to the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners were -120 home favorites as Ryan gave up 5 runs without retiring a batter. The 46-year old Ryan would finish his career with a record of 324-292, and set MLB records for no-hitters (7), strikeouts (5,714) and bases on balls (2,795).


2007 (College Football): As a 37-point road underdog, Syracuse upsets #18 Louisville 38-35. Sophomore quarterback Andrew Robinson completed 17-of-26 with 4 touchdowns for Syracuse - including touchdowns of 79, 42 and 60 yards.
