1976 (NBA): As a 7-point home favorite, the Boston Celtics outlast the Phoenix Suns 128-126 in triple-overtime in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. It was the first NBA Finals game to go to triple-overtime (Game 3 in the 1993 Bulls-Suns Finals also went to triple-overtime). Jo Jo White led the way for Boston with 33 points as the Celtics would win the NBA Championship two nights later in Game 6. Boston entered Game 1 as -200 favorites to win the series.


1986 (MLB): Pittsburgh Pirates rookie outfielder Barry Bonds hits his first major league home run off Atlanta Braves pitcher Craig McMurty in the Pirates 12-3 victory. Pittsburgh was a +140 road underdog as Bonds would go on to become the all-time home run leader with 762 during his 22-year career.


2000 (NBA): The Los Angeles Lakers comeback from 15 points down in the 4th quarter of Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the Portland Trail Blazers and win 89-84. The Lakers entered Game 1 as -340 favorites to win the series as the game pushed with Los Angeles being a 5-point home favorite. The Lakers outscored the Blazers 29-11 down the stretch as a Kobe Bryant to Shaquille O'Neal alley-oop with 40 seconds left sealed the victory.


2008 (NHL): The Detroit Red Wings capture their 11th Stanley Cup after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Detroit was a -145 road favorite for the game and entered Game 1 as -160 favorites to win the series. Left wing Henrik Zetterberg was awarded with the Conn Smythe.


2011 (Tennis): Li Na becomes the first Chinese player to win a Grand Slam singles title after beating defending champion Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 7-6 in the Women's French Open final. Na was a slight -120 favorite for the match and entered the tournament at 25-1 to win the title.
