1951 (Boxing): 37-year old Joe Louis fights for the final time, losing to Rokcy Marciano by TKO 2:36 into the 8th round. Marciano was a +130 underdog for the fight held at Madison Square Garden as Louis ended his career with a 66-3 record.


1984 (NBA): Michael Jordan makes his NBA debut in the Chicago Bulls 109-93 victory over the Washington Bullets. The Bulls covered as 2-point home favorites as Jordan played 40 minutes, scoring 16 points and had 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 steals.


1997 (MLB): In only their 5th year as a franchise, the Florida Marlins defeat the Cleveland Indians 3-2 in 11 innings in Game 7 of the World Series to become the youngest expansion team to win a championship. The Marlins were -130 home favorites and the game went under the total of 8½-runs. Florida erased an early 2-0 deficit and won it with Edgar Renteria's 2-out single up the middle that scored Craig Counsell.


2008 (Soccer): Chelsea's EPL record of 86 games in a row to go unbeaten at home comes to end with a 1-0 loss to Liverpool. Liverpool was a +340 underdog for the match. The only score of the game came 10 minutes into the first half by midfielder Xabi Alonso.


2014 (NFL): Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger becomes the first player to pass for 500+ yards twice in his career in the Steelers 51-34 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The Steelers were 4½-point home underdogs and the game went way over the total of 48½-points. Roethlisberger finished the day 40-for-49 with 522 yards and 6 touchdowns. It's the 4th most passing yards in a single game in NFL history.
