1973 (NBA): As 3-point road underdogs, the New York Knicks defeat the Los Angeles Lakers, 102-93, in Game 5 of the NBA Finals and win their second NBA Championship in four years. The Knicks entered Game 1 as +140 series underdogs as the two teams faced off in the Finals for the third time in four years. Willis Reed took home his 2nd NBA Finals MVP award after averaging 16.4 points and 9.2 rebounds in the series. The Knicks have made the Finals twice since then but have not won another title.


1987 (NBA): Golden State's Eric "Sleepy" Floyd sets NBA playoff records with 29 fourth quarter points and 39 in the second half as the Warriors avoid a sweep and beat the LA Lakers 129-121 in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Warriors were 6½-point home underdogs as Floyd finished the game with 51 points. The Lakers would close out the series in Game 5 and go on to win the NBA Championship over the Boston Celtics in 6 games.


2015 (Golf): Rickie Fowler wins the biggest title of his career at the Players Championship by beating Kevin Kisner and Sergio Garcia in a playoff. Entering Round 1 Fowler was 50-1 to win the tournament.
