2006 (NHL): The Carolina Hurricanes win their first Stanley Cup after defeating the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in Game 7 of the Finals. The Hurricanes were a -165 home favorite and entered Game 1 as -140 favorites to win the series. Entering the season Carolina was 60-1 to win the Cup - the highest preseason odds of the eventual champion since the 1984-85 season (as far back as we have preseason odds for). Goalie Cam Ward won the Conn Smythe Trophy after finishing the playoffs with a 15-8 record and allowing 2.14 goals per game.


2011 (Golf): Rory McIlroy wins his first major championship with a dominating performance at the U.S. Open played at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. McIlroy was 20-1 to win the tournament as he won by 8 strokes over Jason Day. He set 11 tournament records, including lowest total 72-hole score (268) and lowest total under part (-16).


2016 (NBA): LeBron James leads the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first NBA Championship as they become the first team in Finals history to comeback from a 3-1 series deficit after defeating the Golden State Warriors 93-89 in Game 7. Cleveland was a 5-point road underdog and the game went well under the total of 205. The Cavaliers were +1150 series underdogs after Game 4 and entered the series as +180 underdogs to win the title. LeBron James won his 3rd Finals MVP award after averaging 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 8.9 rebounds per game during the series.
