1994 (NHL): The New York Rangers end the longest Stanley Cup drought in NHL history at 54 years after beating the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in Game 7 of the Finals. The Rangers were -240 home favorites for the game and entered Game 1 as -330 favorites to win the series. New York entered the season with odds of +1500 to win the title. Defenseman Brian Leetch, who had 11 goals and 23 assists during the playoffs, was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy.

1995 (NBA): The Houston Rockets become the first #6 seed to win the NBA Championship after they defeat the Orlando Magic 113-101 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Houston covered as a 3½-point home favorite and entered Game 1 as +130 underdogs to win the series. The Rockets were series underdogs in each series as they became the first NBA team to ever defeat four consecutive opponents (Utah, Phoenix, San Antonio and Orlando) in the playoffs that had won 50 or more games during the regular season. Hakeem Olajuwon won the Finals MVP award for the 2nd straight year as he averaged 32.8 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game during the series.

1998 (NBA): Michael Jordan hits the go-ahead jumper with 5 seconds left in the game as the Chicago Bulls win their 6th NBA championship in 8 seasons after a 87-86 victory over the Utah Jazz in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The Bulls covered as 2-point road underdogs and the game went under the total of 177. Entering Game 1 Chicago was a -125 favorite to win the series and entered the season as +140 favorites to win the Championship. Jordan won his record 6th Finals MVP award as he averaged 33.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game during The Finals.
