1982 (MLB): Cal Ripken's record streak of 2,632 consecutive games played begins with the 21 year-old Baltimore Orioles rookie going 0-for-2 in a 6-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Orioles were -220 home favorites as Ripken played at third base - his position for the first 27 games of the streak before he was moved to shortstop.

1985 (NHL): Wayne Gretzky scores a goal and had three assists in the Edmonton Oilers 8-3 victory over the Philaelphia Flyers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals to win their second straight Cup. The Oilers were even money in the preseason to win the Stanley Cup and entered Game 1 as -160 favorites to win the series. The Great One was awarded the Conn Smythe for the first time in his career as he collected 47 points during the playoffs (17 goals, 30 assists) - a record that still stands to this day.

1987 (Boxing): 20 year-old Mike Tyson improves to 30-0 after a TKO of Pinklon Thomas in the 6th round. Tyson was a heavy -700 favorite.
2009 (NBA): The Orlando Magic eliminate LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals after 103-90 Game 6 victory. The Magic were 2-point home favorites and entered Game 1 as +550 underdogs to win the series. James averaged 38.5 points per game during the series as fans were denied a dream Kobe vs LeBron Finals matchup. Orlando would go on to lose in 5 games to the Lakers in The Finals.
