1979 (College Basketball): Magic vs Bird in the National Championship. As a 5½-point favorite, Michigan State defeats previously unbeaten Indiana State, 75-64. Johnson had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Prior to the start of the tournament, the Spartans were +550 to win the National Championship.


2001 (Golf): Tiger Woods shoots a final round 67 (-5) to win The Players Championship for the first time by one stroke over Vijay Singh. Prior to the start, Woods was a +200 favorite to win the tournament.


2006 (College Basketball): #11 seed George Mason becomes the second #11 seed to reach the Final Four after beating #1 seed Connecticut 86-84. The Patriots were 8-point underdogs and +300 on the money line. Prior to the start of the tournament, George Mason was 50-1 to reach the Final Four. All five starters for the Patriots scored in double figures as senior forward Jai Lewis led the way with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. They would go on to lose to eventual National Champion Florida, 73-58, in the National Semifinal.
